Kansas State University student Kyra Manner named Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar

Manhattan, KS  (February 15, 2021) – Kansas State University student Kyra Manner has been named a Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar and awarded a $1000 scholarship in recognition of her inspiring leadership, personal narrative, and academic achievement.

The Nancy Larson Foundation proudly supports students across the country majoring in elementary education by awarding scholarships to deserving students each year. Manner is one of eight recipients selected from the many applications received by the Foundation.

In her personal narrative, Kyra shared that as a military child she moved around a lot and saw many places. “At a new duty station a good teacher made all the difference. A good teacher would offer support and create an environment where making friends was easier. This inspired me to want to teach others too.”

“Kyra’s life story about all of her travels and the teachers who influenced her to become a teacher really impressed the committee,” remarked Nancy Larson. “She is assertive, organized and has great empathy for others which will provide a great foundation for her success in teaching.”

Larson, a former teacher and curriculum director, has dedicated her life to advancing elementary education. Nancy Larson Science K–5 programs are classroom-tested and prepare children for upper-level science classes and careers in science. The program was written to provide in-depth science content in an easy-to-teach format.
