Western Governors University student Hannah Shoults named Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar

Salt Lake City, UT (February 15, 2021) – Western Governors University student Hannah Shoults has been named a Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar and awarded a $1000 scholarship in recognition of her inspiring leadership, personal narrative, and academic achievement.

The Nancy Larson Foundation proudly supports students across the country majoring in elementary education by awarding scholarships to deserving students each year. Shoults is one of eight recipients selected from the many applications received by the Foundation.

In her personal narrative, Hannah explained that she thought she was going to be a veterinarian and then one day realized she was meant to be a teacher. “I always loved working with children so I declined the offer to go into veterinary medicine and pursued teaching. I have a great passion for facilitating learning and helping students succeed. Perseverance, patience, and humility are traits that I believe benefit me in my teaching career.”

“Hannah’s academic strengths and her ability to follow her heart in her career choice impressed the committee,” remarked Nancy Larson. “She knows her own mind and is dedicated to educating children.”

Larson, a former teacher and curriculum director, has dedicated her life to advancing elementary education. Nancy Larson Science K–5 programs are classroom-tested and prepare children for upper-level science classes and careers in science. The program was written to provide in-depth science content in an easy-to-teach format.
