Molly Eby Named Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar

Louisville, KY – Bellarmine University student Molly Eby has been named a Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar and awarded a $1000 scholarship in recognition of her inspiring leadership, personal narrative, and academic achievement.

The Nancy Larson Foundation proudly supports students across the country majoring in elementary education by awarding scholarships to deserving students each year. Eby is one of seven recipients selected from the many applications received by the Foundation.

In her personal narrative, Molly shared, “It was the influence of a special teacher who had the greatest impact on my decision to become an educator. That teacher was my mother who taught third grade for thirty-one years. I spent more hours of my childhood than I can count in her classroom, making copies and putting up hall displays. In high school I went to her classroom during my breaks to help. She gave me opportunities to plan activities, lead a class and work with students. These experiences ignited my passion for teaching. My own Mrs. Eby has supported me every step of my personal journey in education.”

“Molly’s story of the teacher, her mother, who inspired her to become a teacher was very insightful and is exactly the type of life experience that forms the foundation of a wonderful career in education,” remarked Nancy Larson. “She understands what it takes to be a great teacher, a mentor, and an inspiration to children.”

Larson, an author, former teacher, and curriculum director, has dedicated her life to advancing elementary education. Nancy Larson® Science K–5 programs are classroom-tested and prepare children for upper-level science classes and careers in science. The program was written to provide in-depth science content in an easy-to-teach format.
