Ramapo College Student
Taylor Quinn Named Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar

West Milford, NJ – Ramapo College student Taylor Quinn has been named a Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar and awarded a $1000 scholarship in recognition of her inspiring leadership, personal narrative, and academic achievement.

The Nancy Larson Foundation proudly supports students across the country majoring in elementary education by awarding scholarships to deserving students each year. Quinn is one of seven recipients selected from the many applications received by the Foundation.

In her personal narrative, Taylor shared, “Being told by one of my teachers that I was ‘too smart’ for the profession oddly pushed me right into it. I still remember blankly staring back at him after hearing his appraisal of my goals. Did he seriously just say using my talents to help children create their own is a waste of my time? Being told your dreams are unattainable is just as discouraging as being told they are not big enough. We need teachers who are steadfast, hardworking, with both academic and emotional intelligence in our classrooms. I am excited and glad I was unwilling to be talked out of my dream of teaching.”

“Taylor is someone who inspired me with her story of truly choosing her passion – teaching – over many other possibilities that were open to her.,” said Larson. “Her desire to follow her dreams to help others find and achieve their own is wonderful. I believe she will inspire many children in her classroom.”

Larson, an author,  former teacher, and curriculum director, has dedicated her life to advancing elementary education.
